Constitution and Rules
Objectives:

1. To promote & maintain the study of Jujitsu to the highest technical & ethical standards.

2. To promote the spirit of Budo among it’s members, regardless of sex, nationality, religion, race or creed. Tatsumaki Jujitsu Kai is a non-political body.

3. To provide instruction in Jujitsu to the highest standards.

4. To ally itself with other Jujitsu and/or martial arts organizations in the furtherance of the spirit of Budo.

 

Membership:

Membership of the TJJK shall be on an individual basis and will be on payment of an annual fee determined by TJJK. This fee is to include accident insurance. TJJK reserve the right to terminate the membership of any member, without notice and without reason.

 

Gradings:

1. Gradings will be held approximately every six months or at the discretion of the examiners.

2. Examiners will be senior Dan Grades in Jujitsu or a similar discipline, appointed by TJJK.

3. Grading requirements will be laid out in the syllabus of TJJK, as published from time to time. TJJK reserve the right to alter grading requirements at any time, always providing at least three months notice before the next grading.

4. All kyu grades will be expected to grade at least once a year. Kyu grades may not enter a grading without the permission of the senior Sensei, obtained prior to the grading. Candidates for gradings must have attended practice regularly prior to the grading and hold a valid and current license.

5. Martial artists from other disciplines who wish to practice with the TJJK may wear their grade colour belt of that style until the next grading, when they must submit themselves as ‘ungraded’. Thereafter, they must wear the grade colour belt attained at that grading, (if any).

6. Promotions awarded at gradings shall be entered in the member’s record book by the examiners and only grades thus entered are valid.

 

Injury:

No responsibility whatsoever can be taken by Tatsumaki Jujitsu Kai, it’s instructors, officials, representatives or members for any injury sustained as a result of study or practice of the martial arts, however caused. Any member sustaining an injury or loss or damage to property, or any other damage, costs or expenses however caused or incurred releases and indemnifies the aforementioned parties from any liability whatsoever.

 

Rules:

1. Proper dojo etiquette will be observed at all times and the Sensei’s instructions obeyed. In the dojo, Dan grades of the TJJK will be addressed as ‘Sensei’ (pronounced ‘Sen-Say’). Other, higher ranks will be addressed as ‘Renchi’ (pronounced ‘Rench’) or ‘Shihan’ (pronounced ‘Sh-han’).

2. Smoking, drinking and eating are prohibited in the dojo.

3. Outdoor shoes will not be worn on the ‘Tatami’ (training surface) and bare feet are prohibited off the Tatami, immediately prior to or during a session.

4. Once a session has started, no person may enter or leave the Tatami without the permission of the senior Sensei.

5. The senior Sensei present must be notified immediately of any injury sustained before or during a training session.

6. Members will not abuse their knowledge of the Martial arts and will not demonstrate them outside of the TJJK to any person or organization without the permission of the TJJK.

 

Any violation of any of the above rules renders the offender liable to instant expulsion from the TJJK.
